Cunning Single Lady (2014)

Title : 앙큼한 돌싱녀; Angkeumhan Dolsingnyeo; Sly/Cunning/Devious Woman Who's Single Again, also known as Cunning Single Lady

Complete : 16 episodes

Directors : Go Dong-sun, Jung Dae-yoon

Writers : Lee Ha-na, Choi Soo-young

Starring : Lee Min-jung as Na Ae-ra (female lead), Joo Sang-wook as Cha Jung-woo (male lead)

and.... Kim Myung-soo, also known as L, as Secretary Gil Yo-han (my favourite character b'cos of his face)
Here's the picture of Na Ae-ra and Joo Sang-wook. The female lead is so prettyyy! The male lead is not really my type, but he's pretty cool, I guess...and cute (he's kinda cute in the movie).

Hmm.. I am definitely not writing a review here. Lol. A review is an evaluation, thus I am not writing a review. This is merely my opinion and comment on this Korean Drama. I just finished watching this drama. Yup. The whole 16 episodes. Well, the title can't be even further than the truth. I thought Na Ae-ra (the female lead) will be cunning and single, hence the title. However, that is not the case in this drama. I cannot see the cunningness. I mean, even if there was some part where she's a bit tricky or mischievous, that is far from what I know as cunning. Man......such a let down. I thought I can finally find a female lead in a korean drama who is like a witch.

Anyway, I am not the type to read any review or do any searching on stuffs I'm about to watch. I watched this Korean Drama because my friend, S, told me about it. She told me it's good. Then, coincidentally, another friend of mine, S, has the complete episodes. So, I ended up watching this drama for three days straight. Let me give my comment, dude...., this is good. Aside from the let down title, it was a romantic comedy movie which made me smile and laugh by myself while watching.

I told you that I'm not the type to search or read a review of what I'll read or watch. I only search when I'm about to write something about them. You know, just to share. I search the writers, directors and actors along with actress for this drama on wikipedia and dramawiki. I read through some of the contents after copy pasting those names I was searching, and to my surprise, the explanation provided for this drama is very misleading.

Wikipedia:
Three years after the divorce, Ae-ra discovers that Jung-woo has become fabulously successful and wealthy, while she is still paying debts that accrued during their marriage. The fun begins when Ae-ra schemes for revenge, with Jung-woo believing that Ae-ra wants him back because he has become wealthy.
Wikidrama:
A romantic comedy about Na Ae-ra who dreams of meeting a white knight after getting divorced from Cha Jung-woo when his business failed, but as soon as he becomes a successful venture businessman, she tries to seduce him back while the ex-husband Cha Jung-woo tries to date her again to get revenge.
When I read that, I was like....how? where? what? why? huh?
Yea....very misleading. Please don't believe any of that. That just basically is about.....nothing....(?) in the movie. Well, the part where Cha Jung-woo's business failed is true. Oh, also about him being a successful and wealthy businessman. Now then, the rest...does not hold that much truth in them.

The story itself is not very complicated, with not much of a twist here and there. It's about a divorced couple romance with comedy here and there. Well, typical korean drama where you know how it's going to end. To be fair, there is one twist. However, this twist is not much of a BANG! It's more like a 'OH. I see...okay.' The twist is the no leg lady.

Next, let me talk about the character. I really really like the cute guy, the male lead's secretary, Gil Yo-han. I cannot remember his name until nearly the end of the drama. All I remember is I like this Secretary Gil, especially his face. Lol. I think his name only came up in the episode where his meeting with Cha Jung-woo (male lead) is mentioned. The male lead is cute, a genius and rich. The female lead is pretty. Okay, that's all I'm gonna say about characters.

Here're the pictures (yes, plural) of Secretary Gil.

It's a romantic comedy drama as it claimed to be. Funny and sweet couple. The ending is not to my liking. Well, just because I feel like there should be more in between before the ending. I didn't see the ending coming. It's just very....should I say..abrupt? Like it's just suddenly there in front of you, without giving you much chance to say hello to the problem.
All in all, this is entertaining. So, I would recommend it to my friends.

Maybeline Clear Smooth BB Cream

Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Cream. What a nice name. Clear Smooth.
An 8 in 1 skin transformers!
  • Brightens
  • Evens
  • Smoothes
  • Refines
  • Clears
  • Conceals
  • Moisturizers
  • Protect skin

Or so it claims on its package. I try this out because my friend, E, told me that this is one of the best BB Cream which she has ever tried.
It cost me 45K IDR for 18ml.
I chose the lightest shade which is 01 Fresh.

Let's see....Hmm. I would say that it does ALL of those 8 in 1 it claims pretty well for me, except the 'protect skin' part. I can't have any prove on that I suppose.

Now then, positive. I love the shade. It matches me well. Although when first applied, I look like a ghost. So freakin white! But yea, it changes to skin colour after a while. Need to warm it up I guess.

Tips for me : use moisturizer (currently I'm using Skin Food Omija Whitening Emulsion) before applying this bb cream. It emphasises my pores when used without moisturizer. That, or use a primer (currently I'm using Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer) before applying the bb cream. However, it is not wise to use both moisturizer and primer because my face got very oily when I tried that last time.

Move on, negative. Never use it if you're going to sweat. You know, running under the sun or walking to MRT or doing any kind of sport. This stuff is useless and disgusting in those kind of occasion. Here's an illustration : (look to the right) Yea..not a very nice picture there, but it'll do.

There! You understand why I said 'disgusting' just now? Yeap. It's b'cos the colour of this bb cream (which is brown), transfer to the towel or tissue significantly even from the dab.

All in all, this Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Cream is good for an indoor activity which doesn't involve any sweating or water. Well, I will repurchase this. It's easy to use and blend with finger (nope, I don't use a brush).

Birthday Card for E

This is my first quilling project. Despite being my first project, I think it looks awesome. I love the finished product.

If you don't know what is quilling, click here. Well, it is basically a form of art where you roll strips of paper and make it into some sort of shape.

After rolling like forever, I start arranging my rolled paper on a piece of white card. I didn't plan any of that finished design except for the pot. Yea...I planned to make a pot from the beginning of my project. No particular reason. I just wanna try making a pot from the quilled paper.

Arranging those quilled stuffs, apparently, took more than forever... (I rearrange so many times, I lost count). Not to mention sticking those quilled paper to the card feel like hell b'cos I need to be really really really careful in applying the glue so that it's not a mess.

Well, look at the finished product after all of those. Better than I was hoping! Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, E! Here's my thanks for making me a better person in the form of a handmade card.

I printed some words inside the card.
Friends are like MEMORIES
When you get the chance to make a GOOD one
You NEVER forget it!
Happy Birthday, E!
Those are the words I printed (and yes, I googled it).

The quilling part really gave me satisfaction when it's done. Maybe because of this 'it's not gonna end' feeling when I quilled and quilled and quilled with so much patient. So much effort! I hope you like this card, E!

Quilling

What is QUILLING?
Quilling is a form of art that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. (wikipedia.com)

Here's a simple instruction of how to quil:
1. Take a strip of paper
2. Roll it
3. Glued
4. Shape it
5. Create decorative (?) designs

That last bit of instruction, as you may notice is from the definition in wikipedia. I think the definition is very simple, especially the last bit which is "glued together to create decorative designs", honestly, made me laugh so hard. Not because it's funny, but because that last bit which sounds like the most simple part, is actually the hardest!

I took an interest in quilling when I saw a book of quilling in a bookstore. I just randomly open the book and think that it looks cool. Then, I bought some strips of paper and start quilling the very next day. FYI, I didn't buy the book, I just read through some pages.

Well, this needed more time than I thought it would be.
  • First, the rolling part need some time and some trial along with some errors for me to get used to it. Well, maybe because I didn't use a quilling needle (some kind of tool to make you roll your strip of paper easier).
  • Second, the gluing part is especially disastrous. See the picture? That little space need just a bit of glue which will stick it forever. But 'a bit' is not sticky enough! So I put more (apparently a mistake), which lead to my description of 'disastrous' gluing part. Through a 'don't wanna lose' feeling (yea...I feel like a loser if I can't glue those little roles I made with so much effort!), I found out that it's easier to use a double tape (it's cheap, but don't use cheap brand cos it won't stick properly. Well, glue is cheaper but it won't be easier. Need extreme control or super small tip or experience).
  • Third, the shaping part is not that hard. Just a bit of pushing in certain areas. And some googling along with streaming. So many shapes to try! This is the most exciting part!
  • Lastly, the part where you design your own stuffs. For some, it is the easiest part. For others, it is the hardest part. I belong to the second group. This designing stuffs is the hardest one for me. When I did a project, I keep rearranging the quilled paper. To make it easier, I usually design some kind of pattern or picture on a piece of paper before starting a project. However, the project will almost always look different from my initial drawing on the paper. I cannot make up my mind of how it should look like in the end. Hence, the hardest part for me.

This quilling is so time consuming. So, it is a great activity to pass time without knowing. I was so into it that I forgot to eat dinner. By the time I felt hungry, it was already 9:00 p.m.

Jesie S.
Medan, Sat, 1 August 2015.

p.s. In the picture, I didn't use double tape to stick the paper. Instead, I use a small tip clear glue. I ran out of double  tape when I took that picture, so....bear with me, people.

The REAL Meaning of Minal Aidin wal Faizin

Indonesia, with 13.1% of world Muslims resided in, has 87.2% of its total population holding Islam as their religion. This is the country I live in. So even though I am not a Muslim, I celebrate Eid al-Fitr (one of Islam major holidays) quite a lot. *cough* celebrate here refers to the number of shops I visit cos they're having sale, and a number of times I said or texted 'Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri' to my Muslim friends *cough*
Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri
Minal Aidin wal Faizin
Mohon maaf lahir dan batin
These are the standard lines people tell each other when it's Eid al-Fitr.
The first line is basically like saying Happy Birthday or Happy New Year or Happy Chinese New Year. In this case it is Happy Eid al-Fitr.
The third line is apologising physical and emotional wrongdoings.
The second line (this is my main point, so I mention this line lastly) is the only line which is not in indonesian. I thought that line essentially means 'mohon maaf lahir dan batin' (forgive my physical and emotional wrongdoings') because these two lines are often used in conjuction (minal aidin wal faizin, mohon maaf lahir dan batin). However, it is not of the same meaning. In fact, the meaning of that second line is very different from the third line.

Minal Aidin wal Faizin is a sentence which might come from arabic since each word has their own meaning in arabic language.

  • min = part of
  • al-aidin = people who return/come back
  • wa = and
  • al-faizin = win

It literally means....part of people who return and win.
Return here refers to return from the ramadan's struggle (ramadan's struggle = fasting period)
Thus, in a full sentence (in an attempt to translate minal aidin wal faizin to english) : "May you be part of the people who return with victory from the struggle of ramadan."
However, other sources interpret this phrase differently though not that far off from the above interpretation. They refer return as return to God (not 'rest in peace', but 'back to God's way') or return to purity. Thus, interpreting it as "May you be part of the people who return to purity and return with victory from the struggle of ramadan." Another loose translation I found is "May you be part of the people who return to purity and part of the people who are granted glory."

There are many interpretations, however the point is obvious. None of them come near to apologising. So I can take a conclusion that even though minal aidin wal faizin and mohon maaf lahir dan batin are two phrases commonly used in conjunction, they are definitely not come close to each other. I mean, they don't even complement each other like phone and charger or car and petrol.

Jesie S.
Medan, Fri, 18 July 2015.

p.s. While I browse minal aidin wal faizin, I found so many spelling on the words in that line. Some said aizin, others said aidzin; some said faidzin, others said faidin. There are even articles which used them interchangeably. I use aidin and faizin because there is one article which describe which and why it is the correct way to spell them.

p.p.s. While browsing through many articles for my references, I also came across very similar articles. I don't know whether the author is the same person or not. One is from blogspot, the other is from wordpress. Maybe they use the same source. So the article came out very similar. Or they just wanna share an article, so they just copy-paste that particular article. Well, the titles are similar... so maybe just sharing from the same source.

Quote on Eid al-Fitr

I saw these lines yesterday when I was browsing about Eid al-Fitr. Too bad, I cannot find the author or writer or where these lines are originated from.
Let's write all the mistakes down in the sand
And let the wind of forgiveness erase it away
Happy Idul Fitri, Minal 'Aidin wal-Faizin
I would like to share this with you. You know, in a Eid al-Fitr (Idul Fitri - Indonesian way to refer to Eid al-Fitr) celebratory spirit.
Let's just ignore the grammatical errors because I do that a lot too. I will just write some lines in regards to the content of those lines.
Dear author of those lines,
When you write down mistakes on the sand,
it is the water job to erase them away
(or sea water if what you mean by sand is the one at the beach).
Sincerely, the wind.
Wait for it.... YES! There's a reply!
Dear the stupid wind above,
It's not writing on the sand, it's called writing IN the sand.
Furthermore, the sand there does not necessarily mean wet sand.
It's obvious wind can blow away dry sand.
Sincerely, the kinda bitchy and most certainly clever wind.
Is it a good laugh for you? It certainly is, for me. LOL.

Well, me with my not-so-professional grammar, have no idea which one is the correct one. Is it 'writing in the sand' or 'writing on the sand'? I try to google it and I think 'writing in the sand' is the correct one....(still not so sure) because there is a book (Writing in the Sand: Jesus & the Soul of the Gospels by Thomas Moore) and a song (Writing in the Sand by Theocracy) with that title.

Hmm. I'll use 'writing in the sand' instead of 'writing on the sand'. I mean, it is not possible to write on the sand, right? When you try to write with sand as your 'paper', it'll need to sink in to form a word. If it doesn't sink, in this case, a hard (?) sand, then there won't be a word formed....UNLESS you use marker or paint or whatever that you use to write something. Well, then I guess 'writing on the sand' works just fine too.

Pancasila, Genius Foundation of a Country Called Indonesia

Pancasila is an ideology uphold by Indonesia, a country where Bali is located. I know that most people know Bali, but don't know Indonesia. In fact, one of my foreign [citizens outside of Indonesia] friend, S, thought that Indonesia is located in Bali.. Dude.., it's the other way round. Bali is located in Indonesia.

It came from Sanskrit words, panca meaning five, and sila meaning principles. So, Pancasila literally means five principles. Yup. It is literally five inseparable and interrelated principles, which are:

  1. Belief in the One and Only God (Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa).
  2. Just and civilized humanity (Kemanusiaan yang adil dan beradab).
  3. The unity of Indonesia (Persatuan Indonesia).
  4. Democratic life led by wisdom of thought in deliberation amongst representatives of the people (Kerakyatan yang dipimpin oleh hikmat kebijaksanaan dalam permusyawaratan dan perwakilan).
  5. Social justice for all the people of Indonesia (Keadilan sosial bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia).

Person who came up with these principles is a GENIUS! I mean, Indonesia is the only country with literally five points of philosophical foundation! The original idea is from Prof. Mr. Muhammad Yamin, S. H., a national hero of Indonesia and Ir. Soekarno, Indonesia's first president, also a national hero of Indonesia. Then with several meetings, that particular idea was rearrange, reform, whatever the words, bla bla bloody bloody bla, to this five awesome principles, Pancasila.

Well, I would say that I have no hard feeling whatsoever for these five principles, EXCEPT the first principle. Belief in One and Only God. Others translated it to 'Belief in One Supreme God', 'Belief in One Almighty God', basically there is only one God that your can recognized. He is above all.
Isn't it sad for people who are atheist? They don't belief in God, so they're not Indonesian? How about animism that is practically an essential part in Indonesia multicultural identity?

I know. I am so indecisive. First I said Pancasila is genius, awesome, and other compliments which are practically overflowing, then I said I have a bit of a hard feeling towards the first principle of Pancasila. Well, that's what life is about. I n d e c i s i v e n e s s.

Another thing about Pancasila is that I thought everyone is supposed to know Pancasila. Or at the very least they have learned it before, when they were young. Underline the past there. I THOUGHT. I mean, not in other countries, but in Indonesia. My friend, S (different from the above mentioned S), who went to international school in Indonesia, (Banten, Tangerang to be exact), told me that she has never learned about Pancasila at her school. Hell, she does not even know about Samudra Pasai kingdom (first Islam kingdom in Indonesia) or any other kingdoms in Indonesia. She knows Pearl Harbour incident though....which I did not know until the movie came out.

Funny, isn't it? She studied world history. I studied Indonesian history. The only world history which I remember is about Hitler...

Meeting People

Here's what M said about me.
When people just meet new people, they're not very excited, they will have moderate mood.
You, on the other hand, is like, KYAAAA I WANNA BE FRIENDS WITH ANYONE mood.
I was...like..uhhh....okay....

Hmm..I thought meeting new people, meeting new friends, is supposed to be exciting stuffs. Something to be happy about.

I love meeting people! No matter old or new, known or unknown. Although maybe this quote does not really apply to me. I mean, why would anyone feel difficult to introduce themselves to me? Haha. But then again, every time I introduce myself to someone, it is indeed kinda difficult. Of course, it is a different matter if you are introduced by your friend or someone you know before to someone new. Try to introduce yourself to someone who is a complete stranger. There's a thrill in it. (Well, at least it is thrilling for me).

Touché, Alchemist by Windhy Puspitadewi

Puspitadewi, Windhy, Touché, Alchemist, (Jakarta : PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2014)
This 224 pages of story is very interesting. The cover is much MUCH better than the first book that I read. However, when I saw the advertisement of the first book on the last page of this book, it has a different cover than the one that I read...Hmm...

Seeee??? Very different from the picture I posted before at Touché (here's the link), right? If this is the cover, I LOVE IT! And THIS cover perfectly describe the content of the book! LOVE IT!!!
Anyway, back to the second book. Here's the cover and the back.

The cover makes me think the main character is super cool and super genius! But while reading the book, I fell out of love... Well, it's not because of his personality, but because I have very very little description I got from the book....about his looks. The description is mostly about his super messy hair. Though the super genius part is not wrong and the super cool part might not be so far off, but still....I fell out of love. That's all there is to it.

Picture of the back of the book is still with the bookmark there just because I L.O.V.E it. Did u notice the pattern? Oh wait, you need to touch it to FEEL the pattern. Oh my, so addictive to touch (bookmark and the whole cover [both the front and the back] of the book).

Anyway, the book. Hmm...It gave me a needy feeling to finish the whole thing in a day. It has a very fast plot, which entertained me most of the time.

The second book is much more interesting than the first one, although...the main mystery in the book is actually easily solve in the middle of it. Maybe that's the author's style...? Different from most mystery book, which authors always try to make the readers confuse, Puspitadewi is pretty much very to the point.

The characters....are not my type... Hahaha. I usually like a cheeky genius brat, but this guy is not really one that I like.. I think it's because of the lack description of him. However! I like his cynical comments. Other characters didn't catch my interest.

All in all, if there's the third book of this Touché series, I would love to read it. Why? Because Touché itself is a very interesting idea. The fact that the author use some real famous person here and there contribute to my reason too. The kind of book that connect itself to real world around us is the kind of book that pique my interest the most. So...yea. This book is in the list.

Touché by Windhy Puspitadewi

Puspitadewi, Windhy, Touché, (Jakarta : PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2011).
With a total of 204 pages, I finally manage to finish this novel in two days. Thank you, E, for lending me this book! Reading for free is fun. Lol

In this book, I can feel the brotherhood clearly! The brotherhood between Dani and Indra is to the point of an extreme level, but still enjoyable (I use the term brotherhood instead of friendship here because their relationship is too deep to be describe as friendship).

Move on to the next topic... I honestly dislike the cover.... I think the front page does not describe any of the book's content. The cover is like giving the readers (us) a hint that there is deep romance going on in the book. However...., the romance. OMG.....the romance......is too forceful! I cannot see the love anywhere. I mean, please.....in some measly weeks or months, you can fall that deep to someone you just met??? Deep enough to go over your brotherhood. Oh my, oh no. I can't understand it. Bzzz (or maybe it's because I don't believe in love at first sight or love at a few sights or love blooming in a few weeks). I get the author's feeling to insert a bit of romance in the book and how she wanna make it the strongest romance between the best pair or whatever, but still, I can't feel that much love you know. On a side note, of course different people will have different opinion. There are people out there who understand their romance.... Not me though.

Now, then, about the story. It's more like solving the code, rather than uncovering the mistery... Furthermore, the ending is a bit......how to say it..... A bit too happy? Hahahaha. Yea. Well, tht's all~

H&M

H&M just opened in my town! The store is very very big, using more space than I expected. I mean...it's almost as big as ACE Hardware...or bigger..? Lol. Anyway, very spacey indeed.
There are two locations, one in Sun Plaza and the other one in Center Point.

I went to the one in Center Point and bought sooo many clothes. Shopping feels endless there. I found so many pretty and cool clothes! Unfortunately, I can't buy all of them *obviously* not only bcos I dont have enough money, but also bcos not all of them looks good on me whn I tried them on..(mainly the cool looking ones). People, nver buy clothes if u can't try them. Well, except if they're t-shirt which are super cheap, which u won't mind if it bcome ur pajama.

Among those clothes which I bought, there's this white top that will go so well with my dress. I'd say I like this knitted top most compare to other clothes that I brought. Mainly bcos I can match it with many dress and tank top. Well, back to the dress that I got reminded of whn I saw this this white knitted top in H&M. Here's the dress.
Here's the dress with the top. How is it? Better? Worst? Hahaha. Though, it'll still come down to personal preferences.
Well, personally, I like both! The first ver. can be used for dinner and the second ver. can be used for lunch. This top cost me 249.900 IDR. For a knitted top, I'd say...worth it!

Focus on Where You Are Going

STOP LOOKING AT THE WALL AND FOCUS ON WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!!

This is the quote I got from an email I received on 5th of February 2015 (which I read just now) from Robert Kiyosaki (well, that's the name and the signature I got in that email, but the email address itself is customerservice@richdad.com). I got this email because I signup in his website, www.richdad.com.

Oh. Do you know Robert Kiyosaki? If you don't know, this is him. (This picture is from google images). If you want to know more about him, google him or find him in wikipedia. He's that famous.

To put it simply, he is a very rich guy. This is the most simple and most understandable explanation I can give you, people.

Anyway, about the quote. I am that kind of person. I look at the wall, in this case obstacles of what I want, more than necessary. I tend to think too much, thus causing me to walk on the same place.

I think this is a very motivational quote. At least for me, I am very motivated to change my way of thinking. It will be hard, I admit. But changing to a better person is never easy. (I wonder why changing to a worst person is easy though).

I will look at what I want, at my plan, more than what might obstruct my way. In the worst case scenario, when my way is obstructed, when the obstacle is too hard to overcome, I, at least, have tried. Instead of thinking too much about failure and do nothing to step forward, at least trying and fail is much better.

No, wait. If I didn't try and didn't fail, just stay on my place, it won't hurt. There won't be such thing as failure because I didn't try at all. Hmm....comfort zone seems very....cozy.

So, which one will you choose?
1. Stay there and just dream of what you want?
2. Step forward and either
     a. Success, get what you want
     or
     b. Fail, feel hurt so much and get stronger to try again.

I used to choose no.1, now I wanna choose no.2. What about you?

You Light Up My World

Some time ago, I watched this short movie by Cornetto (yes, that ice cream Cornetto, if you don't know this ice cream brand, then just google it) in YouTube. The title is Cornetto Cupidity, Kismet Diner. Here's the link to the short movie. Such an interesting short movie! A nine minutes video that just take my interest in the first two minutes because of the singing.

What I wanna tell you more is one of the song that Laura, the main character, sang in the short movie. It stuck in my head like crazy. Lol. Seriously stuck! It's the last song she sang, so you need to either watch the video till the end or just skip to 6:25. I'd recommend to watch the whole movie. It's only nine minutes anyway.

It's a wonderful and sweet song. When I wanna download it, I found out that it is a song sang by Lotte Mullan, titled Valentine Song. If you wanna listen to the original song, here's the link. Her voice is really nice and sweet. I like it.

With that song stuck in my head, I thought of these lines (click here to read some lines).

Escape Plan

I'm feeling sick, but I can still manage writing a post for this blog. Anyway, Escape Plan is the name of the game that I went to yesterday (Fri, 6 February 2015). It is located in Palladium Mall, Medan.

This mall is so lonely. Not much people hanging out here. People just come for watching movie or the supermarket (Hypermart). The store there.....has little attention from me.

Back to the game. It costed me 50k IDR, which is quite expensive. I went there with my friend, A. We were told to put all of our belongings in a locker, then with a blind fold on, we were guided to a room. This room is so small.....VERY small. Well, apparently after we managed to opened a door, we found another room, which was a lot bigger.

Let me list it down. (refer to the first picture)
1. We were locked in a room.
2. There were clues on the table (math is involved here)
Then, we need to get out from the room by solving the clues left behind practically everywhere....or no where..

That's basically how the game is. Then there are also other rooms with different difficulty level. Ours was not the easiest. If I have to list it down I would say ours is level 3 of 4 (according to the person in charge and the second picture here). There are five themes we can choose from. So...yea...pretty hard for a two players.

A told me that other people play it with up to eight people! I was so amaze that we still try out that game...with two people. And yeah....we fail to get out from the locked room. 45 minutes inside. Cracking our skull to solve the clue. I won't mind going back if it's free or at discount price for a NOT first timer.

To conclude my post, I would like to thank A for bringing me to this game and my comment for this game is.........dude, give me more time. Also, you need more props. Seriously....

Here's the picture I took with A. Those quotes are what they gave us (people who fail to get out from the room in time) at the end of the game.

Woah...a lot more pictures this time. Two first pictures are from instragram (@escapeplanmedan). The last one is from my phone.

The Girl with Glass Feet

Have you ever read a book which made you flip open the last page not to read the ending, but just to see how many pages more you need to read before you finish the book?
This book, The Girl with Glass Feet by Ali Shaw, made me do it.

Title : The Girl with Glass Feet
Author : Ali Shaw
Year : 2011

My friend, E, lent me this book. She loves it and told me that she likes Ali Shaw's writing style. I was interested and started reading it... Before the end of chapter 1, I looked at the page I was in, flipped the last page of the book, and counted how many pages I need to read before I finish it.

Yes, I dislike the author's writing style. The story is so slow and the too-much-information-detailed description of literally everything annoy me so much! Then...something hit me! I suddenly remembered that this book is originally written in english. In case you're wondering, I read the Indonesian translation. So..well...maybe the english one is not so bad...I thought.

Then, I tried to find at least the preview of this book. I found it at amazon.com here. Oh...bubbles...I still dislike it. It's true that his choice of words are interesting and beautiful and very...fairy-tale-like, also need less page the the translated one, but the slow pace and the detailed description does not change. Though, I might enjoy reading it in english more......nawhh..I think I need at least 6 months to finish this kind of slow-pace-plus-too-detailed kind of book when it's in my second language.

The story itself is not bad, but in my opinion, the ending is too rushed. I feel like the author try to close the curtains too fast. The ending was out of place because of it. Well, the main characters, Midas and Ida, has a nicely placed ending (compared to the other characters, though I still dislike the ending, but at least these two has an ending which was built up by the stories). However, other characters, Henry, Evaline, Carl, Emiliana, Hector, Denver and Gustav (did I mention everyone? Well, at least these are the characters I notice, other than Midas and Ida, of course), has a very very rushed ending. It felt like the ending is suddenly THERE, out of nowhere.

Another character is Midas Crook, the main character's father, who has the same name as the main character, Midas. What a confusing way to name someone. Anyway, Midas (Jr.) has a father, Midas (Sr.), who he hates (and attached to) so much. At first, I didn't pay attention to him. I mean, seriously, the main character having a daddy's issue and that concerning daddy is already dead even before the story started. So yeah, I didn't pay attention to this daddy thingy. UNTIL, page 375-378. Merely FOUR PAGES, and he suddenly become so important in my life! Okay, not in my life, just in this book when I read it. He suddenly took away all of my attention. JUST FOUR PAGES.

I will conclude my post this time with my strongest impression of this book. I wonder which one impress me more, Midas Crook (Sr.) or the fact that I need to count how many pages left before I finish the whole book. COUNT THE PAGE WIN!! I was still counting the pages on the last a hundred pages, last fifty pages, and even last twenty pages! How is that not a strong impression?? Bubbles...the font size is so small, the space is not much, and the description is too much.

p.s. I thought Ali Shaw was a woman, well, apparently, after I googled this book for the sake of writing this post, I found out that Ali Shaw is a guy (from goodreads.com in this link).

Haw-A, White Sparkling Grape Juice (and its side dish)

Imagine a cold beverage with a compatible side dish to complement it. Maannn, I love it! Just home from work and this is what welcome me.

FYI, the glass in the picture is my favourite glass. It's cute. :')

Now then, I would like to tell you more about the beverage and the side dish in the picture.

Firstly, let me tell you about the beverage....which is non alcohol. Well, It's a grape juice with a bit of soda (hence, the 'sparkling' of sparkling grape juice). It tastes sweet (like champagne, minus alcohol) and refreshing (when served cold). However, I cannot really taste the soda. I can see bubbles at the bottom of my glass caused by soda, but I really can't taste any soda.

When I tried to open the bottle for the first time, I don't have enough power, thus my dad opened it for me. If you notice, we don't use corkscrew to open it, hence the perfect cork. Yup. No hole. He opened it by brute sheer strength.

When I tried to open the bottle for the second time, I don't have anyone who can help me. (I was home alone). I struggles for around half an hour and finally manage to open the bottle with my not-worth-mentioning strength.

That quite long struggle was not for naught! I savour the sweetness of this beverage from my favourite glass. Oh! The feeling of fulfillment!

Secondly, the side dish. It was a side dish. Not much can be described after that word. Side dish. It's not a must to be there, but being there is okay too. That kind of feeling. I think it complement my beverage, but then again, it can be substituted by some other side dish, and I will still enjoy my sweet sparkling grape juice.

Roasted cashew nuts. That's the name of my side dish in the picture. It taste great, but still cannot be my main dish. Yea....side dish is where you belong, nuts. In regards to side dish, I must admit that this, roasted cashew nuts, makes wonderful snacks. Aside from  its great taste, particularly the roasted one, cashew nuts also has many nutritional value. One of its benefits, which perks my interest, is the fact that these nuts can helps women suffering from sleep disturbances caused by their menopause.

Nope...I'm not gonna discuss all of its benefits here. If you want to know more, just search it using google. Or you can try the World's Healthiest Food in this link for quite a broad elaboration, or stylecraze in this link for a much simpler explanation.

This is the end of my post. I think the most interesting thing is.......the fact that the name is WHITE sparkling grape juice, but when I poured it, it was reddish brown, kinda like the colour of tea. I was disappointed! I expect at least a transparent coloured grape juice!

Why BUBBLES BULB?

The question is not why use BUBBLES BULB as the name of this blog, but why not use BUBBLES BULB?
LOL. You know what? People who say "the question is not why, but why not", most of the time don't know why either. So there you go. I don't know why I use it as the name of this blog. I just sort of found these two words and put them together. I will tell you how I found those two words.
